A standard US king is usually 76 by 80 inches. California king is a different shape, and a split king uses separate mattresses. Confirm your bed rather than relying on a listing that calls every large size “king.”
One bed, two preferences
A full-width foam topper changes the surface for both sleepers. If one person likes the current firmness, that can be a poor compromise even when the other wants more cushioning. Separate temperature zones solve a different problem: wanting different heating or cooling settings without necessarily changing mattress softness.
Measure each side of a split setup independently. For adjustable bases, check whether the cooling system explicitly supports that arrangement and how its hoses will move. Do not stretch one ordinary pad across independently moving mattresses.
