Easy care starts with identifying the part that gets dirty and the part you can wash. A washable textile cover does not make a foam core, water connector or controller washable.

Read three labels before buying

Read the mattress layer’s label, any separate cover label and your washing machine’s bulky-item guidance. A large pad can fit inside the drum yet leave too little room to move. Do not infer machine suitability from bed size alone.

For spills, protection may be more useful than extra cooling fabric. A waterproof pad can keep liquid away from the mattress, but its barrier needs the specified wash and drying conditions. Keep a spare permitted top layer if the first will take a long time to dry.

If you choose a water-based cooling system, laundering and water-system maintenance are separate jobs. Follow the exact generation’s instructions for draining, disconnecting and cleaning. Never put a control unit into a washer. Choose a simpler layer if that maintenance will not fit your routine.
