The stain type alone cannot select a safe cleaning chemical. Start with the material and the exact manufacturer’s care instructions.
Remove the item from use and follow any required electrical disconnection instructions. Blot a fresh spill only as permitted; do not soak foam or powered parts on the assumption that more water cleans better. Check any permitted cleaner on a discreet area where the instructions allow it.
Do not mix cleaning chemicals or invent a sequence of bleach, vinegar and other treatments. A waterproof barrier or cooling finish can have different restrictions from an ordinary sheet. Follow the allowed rinse and drying method and avoid trapping dampness inside a cover.
If the care label cannot support a stain treatment, ask the manufacturer before proceeding. A scoring tool cannot certify a chemical or guarantee that a set stain will disappear.
