An ordinary electric blanket supplies heat. Calling a blanket electric does not establish that it can cool. A cooling-labelled blanket may instead be an unpowered textile, while a genuine active system requires its compatible equipment.
Read beyond the product name
Identify the mechanism in the manual: resistive heating, moving air, circulating water or passive fabric. Confirm whether the selected package includes the controller and connections. A replacement cover or a light summer blanket should not be compared with a complete cooling appliance on price alone.
Choose the area you want to change
A blanket sits above the sleeper; a mattress pad sits below. If a heavy duvet is the problem, lighter upper bedding is the simpler trial. If you need adjustable bed temperature, compare a verified active system and its approved layering arrangement.
Do not combine powered heating and cooling products unless their manufacturers expressly permit that setup. Follow instructions about folding, connections, liquids and users for whom temperature-control products may be unsuitable.
