A cooling fabric does not provide a selectable temperature. For adjustable bed temperature, compare the complete powered system rather than a pad whose name simply includes cooling.

What must be in the box

A water-based pad needs its compatible control unit and connections. Check the exact generation: replacement pads and older controllers are not automatically interchangeable. For two independently controlled sleepers, confirm what equipment each zone requires.

An under-cover airflow system works differently from circulating temperature-controlled water. Room temperature limits its cooling effect. Compare the mechanism before comparing the number displayed on a controller.

Include ownership costs and space

Check electrical requirements, controller clearance, hoses, cleaning instructions and consumables specified by the manufacturer. A controller must not be tucked into an unventilated space simply to hide it. Review return terms for the complete selected package and avoid assuming that a low-priced replacement pad is a functioning cooling system on its own.
